Loss of faith or meaning is one of the main side effects of CPTSD.
However, loss of faith doesn’t always mean a belief system. It can also mean losing faith in people, in their community, or even in themselves. The meaning of life changes when experiencing complex trauma.
People dealing with CPTSD question everything. And that includes God.
Where was God when they were abused? Or where was their church community when they were dealing with long-term medical issues and fighting for their lives?
Why did He let it happen? And if He’s a good God, why does He let his people suffer?
Why does the church run towards some and seemingly banish those who are suffering the most?
