What is Complex Trauma, CPTSD?
Complex Trauma, also known as CPTSD, is the body’s response to survival. Technically it occurs when someone undergoes experiences that make their body fear for its life. With PTSD, this happens and develops into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder during a singular instance. For instance, a soldier typically develops PTSD during a particularly horrific battle that might last days or weeks but is singular. With Complex Trauma, CPTSD, the harm that the person undergoes usually lasts months, years or decades and can involve a lot of different harmful instances.
Complex Trauma happens when the body has to fight for its survival over a long period of time, constantly living in fear.
